was selectman o f Scarsborough in 1686. In 1690 he fled with
his father-in-law to Lynn, MA, bu t was one of the first to
resettle. He returned in a sloop in 1703 and built a garrison
on Prout's Neck, successfully defending from a force of 500
French an d Indians.From Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New

soldier in Philip's War. Selectm. Scarb. 1686. . . . . In 1690
he escaped with his wife's family to Lynn where in 1701 he was
tenant on a farm of John Cogswell. In 1709 he was a creditor
of Moses -Hawkes's est. Among the first to resettle Scarb.,
his sons depos. that they came July 1717 and that in 1718 they
liv. in the Jordan garrison at Spurwink. They stood their
ground in Dummer's War, and helped defend the garrison on
Prout's Neck.In 1728, at 80, he joined the newly formed Scarb. church.
His ho. stood near the east corner of the old Black Point
burying ground, and the site was taken into it. Will 21 Feb.

And John became a freeman in 1691.

His will, as recorded in Essex Probate Book 1: 234, reads:
"I, Christopher Osgood of Ipswich, being weake in body, but of perfect understandinge & memory, doe comitt my soule into the hands of my redeemer, & concerning that little Estate the Lord hath lent mee, this is my last will & testament.
First, I do give unto my oldest daughter Mary Osgood, ten pounds, to be paid her or her assigns at her day of marriage, & to my other three daughters, Abigail, Elisabeth & Deborah, five pounds to each of them, to be paid to them, and every of them, at or upon their respective dayes of marriage.
And to my sonne Christopher Osgood, I do give my house and lands, to have & enjoy the same, at the age of two & twentie yeares. And my will is, that my beloved wife Margery Osgood, shal be the sole executrix of this my will, & to enjoy the proffitt & benefitt of my estate, duringe the minority of my children, as abovesaid. On Oct. 15, 1650, the widow, Margery, petitioned for an abatement of the portions given by the estate of Christopher Osgood, to the eldest daughter, second daughter, eldest son, who was to have the house and land, and that to pay to the two younger children, when 18 years of age, because the property did not prove sufficient. The petition was recorded on Dec. 15, 1650.
Her mother left her 5 pounds in her will which was to be paid to her by her brother Thomas of Newbury one year after her mother's death.
